You need the SDK for August 2007!

Here is an install guide for it

http://gdk.thegamecreators.com/?f=install

Basically you will go to Tools
2. options then click
3. Projects and Solutions
4. VC++ Directories
5. Top right corner of window is “Show directories for”
6. Here you will need to drop down to include files and put the path of the Include directory of the SDK Aug 2007
7. Do this for the Library files as well Include the Library files of the SDK Aug 2007.

Just search for any files it says you are missing and point to the library or include directory and it should work fine for you. Might say like darkGDK.h is missing just search for it on your computer and point to that location as a library or include in the VC++ options, Hope this helps. Peace out!!

CellZenith Game, The next Geomotry Wars?

October 05, 2008 :: Posted by - Gnar :: Category - Gaming

Here is an excerpt of an article I found on IGN, 3 DeVry Students formed Faramix Enterprises in mid 2007

Michael Dehen (23), Nathan Follmer (21), and Eric Totten (27) are pursuing their degrees through DeVry University’s online program. Within a few weeks of posting to their online classes, their passions for developing games cemented a collegiate bond and created the foundation for an entrepreneurial venture. They formed Faramix Enterprises in mid-2007 and established their official studio headquarters in Los Angeles, where Dehen lives. With Follmer residing in Pennsylvania and Totten in New Jersey, the three students continue to study at DeVry while having just brought their first game title, CellZenith, to the commercial market with a September 30 launch (www.cellzenith.com)

This is great news for our start up in the gaming industry! Our working title has come along way in just 14 or so weeks, right now, we still have all our concept art and screen shots under wraps… but for a sneak peek at the WarOfDecadence  boss mob, check out WarOfDecadence.com. Right now, we are intending on a program release for the XBOX live arcade system but this is very cool that these 3 students broke off and started there own gaming studio. Good Luck guys.

The N3w Lara Croft is a Hawtie!!

August 21, 2008 :: Posted by - Gnar :: Category - Gaming

Alison Carroll is cast as Lara Croft in the new Tomb Raider: Underworld. The screen shots for this game look pretty amazing, Here is a video I found on Allison in her new roll as Lara Croft, she is such a sweetie, I just love that British accent. The game is set to release in November of 08′. I am sure this game will appeal to yet another generation of young lads & ladies all around the world. Look for this game to continue in a traditional fashion with this series, and make an already strong franchise even stronger.

Spore goes GOLD!

August 18, 2008 :: Posted by - Gnar :: Category - Gaming

This game should be interesting to say the least, the re-playability on this game should be intense hopefully Maxis games does this up right and EA didn’t force them to release a unfinished game full of bugs. (Only time will tell) For more on Spore check out this WIKi write up on it. Anyways when I first seen the video for the early stages of this game it looked like a winning concept for a game, We can only hope this game can take us from reality and immerse us in hours of fun.

Anyways my other group members have been working more on the collisions and stuff. I hope to get a release posted in a few weeks it will be a beta but should be pretty cool.

Unreal Tournament 3 Project

December 15, 2007 :: Posted by - Gnar :: Category - Gaming

So all the FOH’ers (Fresh out of High School) at Devry are all going nuts about this Unreal Tournament 3 stuff… And well since they call me Grandpa over there I figured FOH is an appropriate name for them, anyways so they are hosting a LAN game in the GSP lab and going nuts fragging each other. So I am like ok this game looks pretty cool, I can definitely get into slamming a few beers down and fragging some punks. w00t!

Ok ok… To make a long story short they are like UT3 is da bomb UT3 is da shizzle bla bla… I am like ok it is a pretty cool game but this is when Grandpa’s noggin kicks in, I am like WTF why don’t I check for that domain name? UT3.Whateva, Sure enough about every UT3 domain is taken but 1, Low and behold UT3.Mobi is not registared! Score I think anyways, I am in the works with a few others on putting a forums and feed the site with an RSS feed, and from the feed I am going to allow people to connect though an SMS gateway with other’s in their area to hook up for LAN parties or whatever. It will be no small task but we will see what we can innovate to make this site a reality. I will keep you informed, If any of you have knowledge or have used an open source SMS gateway and would like to donate some time to this project feel free to post a comment here and I will e-mail you back.

* You need to find a Buddy key online *
 This game is SOE: Sony online entertainment, if you want a free trial on this game you will need to Google, buddy keys, free buddy keys for Vanguard, something of that nature.

Over all, The Vanguard game is a “hog” especially if you have an older video card. Ram is pretty cheap now a day you can fix that fairly quickly and in-expensively.
Make sure your video card supports, Vertex and Pixel shader 2.0, If it doesn’t DON’T even try this game! you will be sorry. SOE should offer a free trial also, but they don’t. Over all these games all look like promising alternatives to World of Warcraft.
